Compare

A TripLog
alternative, with the free plan stated plainly.

TripLog gives individual drivers unlimited automatic tracking at no cost. MileWiz does not. Here is the rest of the comparison — prices, what each app is for, and how a TripLog CSV comes across.

Prices checked 4 November 2026. Competitor names appear for factual, nominative comparison only. This is not tax advice.

TripLog and MileWiz both notice drives in the background and let you mark them business or personal. The first difference is the free plan. TripLog’s own pricing page says Basic is free forever and includes unlimited automatic GPS mileage tracking. MileWiz keeps 20 automatic trips a month unless you subscribe. If you drive most days and you do not want to pay, TripLog’s free plan is the more generous one.

The second difference is what you pay for next. TripLog Premium is the reporting, web, and integrations tier. MileWiz Unlimited is only more automatic trips, plus the same on-device log. Pick the product whose paid extras you will actually use.

The listing’s in-app purchases are named as legacy packages at $59.99 and cloud storage at $2.99, so the $4.99 / $59.99 figure above is the price on TripLog’s website, not a guess about every App Store receipt. MileWiz US App Store Unlimited Driving Plan $4.99 / $49.99, checked 3 November 2026. Team prices are on TripLog’s multi-user page and are not repeated here.

What TripLog is especially for

On its pricing page, Basic includes automatic tracking, expenses, parking and tolls, and a 7-day Premium pass for unlimited reporting. Premium adds the web app, receipt capture, bank and card feeds, and connections to QuickBooks Online and SAP Concur. TripLog also sells team plans. If you need a manager to approve mileage, or you already live in QuickBooks, that is TripLog’s product. MileWiz does not offer it.

TripLog’s App Store description also says every user gets one 7-day Premium pass each year to download an annual report. We are not scoring how complete Basic reports are outside that pass. Read the purchase screen before you rely on a free export.

Bringing a TripLog log into MileWiz

Export the trip log as CSV and open it in MileWiz. Email the CSV to yourself and open the attachment in MileWiz, or save it in Files, iCloud Drive, Dropbox or Google Drive and open it with MileWiz. Keep the original file. Opening the same file again adds those trips a second time. Imported trips are not automatic trips, so they do not use the free plan’s 20-a-month allowance. When the file has addresses, MileWiz looks them up, which needs an internet connection. If one address cannot be found, that trip is skipped. If the phone is offline, a file that contains addresses is not imported.

Use the Trip Logs table, the row-by-row list with a start time, an end time, and a from and to. A TripLog tax file also has a daily summary and later sections for locations and vehicle expenses. Those are not trips, and MileWiz does not turn them into drives. It keeps the date, times, business or personal label, miles, places, parking, and tolls. A drive that starts in the evening and ends after midnight stays one trip and finishes the next morning. The miles in the file are the miles MileWiz stores. The original driven path is not in the CSV, so MileWiz looks up the two addresses and draws a route. That needs an internet connection. If one address cannot be found, that row is skipped.

Who MileWiz is not for

Choose TripLog if you want unlimited automatic tracking without paying, the Premium web app, or a company approval flow. Choose MileWiz if you want an iPhone log with no vendor account and you are comfortable with 20 free automatic trips a month, or with Unlimited Driving at the US list price.

A practical way to decide

  1. If you need the free plan to cover every drive, TripLog Basic does that and MileWiz’s free plan does not.
  2. If you already pay for TripLog Premium mostly to export reports, compare $59.99 a year with MileWiz Unlimited at $49.99 a year, then export one report from each.
  3. If you use QuickBooks, Concur, or a team admin, price that workflow. MileWiz will not replace it.
  4. Bring a TripLog CSV across only after you have kept the original file.

Questions people ask

How much does TripLog cost right now?

On 4 November 2026, TripLog’s website listed Basic as free forever, with unlimited automatic GPS mileage tracking. Premium was listed at $4.99 per month, paid annually as $59.99. The US App Store listing still shows older package names at $59.99 and a $2.99 cloud-storage item. Confirm the price on your own purchase screen.

How does that compare with MileWiz?

MileWiz’s free plan keeps 20 automatic trips a month. Unlimited Driving is $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year on the US App Store (checked 3 November 2026). TripLog’s free plan allows more automatic trips than MileWiz’s free plan. MileWiz’s yearly price is lower than the $59.99 TripLog lists for Premium.

Does MileWiz import TripLog data?

Yes. Export the Trip Logs table as CSV and open that file in MileWiz. The daily summary at the top of a TripLog tax report is not a trip list, so MileWiz skips it. Date, times, business or personal, miles, start and end places, parking, and tolls are kept. A drive that ends after midnight is kept as an overnight trip. Addresses are looked up to draw a route, which needs an internet connection.

Who should stay on TripLog?

Stay if you want TripLog’s free unlimited automatic tracking, a team dashboard, or QuickBooks or Concur. MileWiz is an iPhone and iPad log without a MileWiz account or a company console.
