Looking for a
MileIQ alternative?

MileIQ is a well-known automatic mileage tracker. If its price has climbed past what you want to pay, here is a careful comparison with MileWiz — dated prices, named sources, and a plain note about who MileWiz is not for.

Prices checked 3 November 2026. Competitor names appear for factual, nominative comparison only. This is not tax advice.

People usually search for a MileIQ alternative for a simple reason: the bill changed. MileIQ still does the core job — automatic drive capture and a swipe to sort business from personal. MileWiz aims at the same job on iPhone and iPad, with a lower US list price, no separate MileWiz account, and backups that go to your own iCloud.

MileWiz US App Store listing for Unlimited Driving Plan $4.99 and $49.99, checked 3 November 2026. MileIQ’s annual website display of $11.66 × 12 equals about $139.92; the App Store annual purchase is listed as $139.99.

How MileIQ’s published price moved

Public website pricing for MileIQ’s individual unlimited plan was about $59.99 a year for several years through early 2025, moved to about $90 a year around March 2025, and is now about $140 a year on the US App Store. That history is useful context for sticker shock; it is not a claim about every subscriber’s bill or about future prices.

MileIQ is provided by Bending Spoons US Inc. Ownership changed in July 2025, when Bending Spoons acquired MileIQ Inc. The first published jump from about $60 to about $90 appears in public pricing before that acquisition announcement.

Ownership source: Willkie client announcement dated 8 July 2025, and MileIQ’s current Terms of Service / Privacy Policy naming Bending Spoons US Inc. Historical price points above are the facts supplied for this page from published list pricing; current prices were re-checked on the sources linked above on 3 November 2026.

What both apps try to do

Both products automatically notice drives in the background, let you classify them, and help you produce a mileage record for taxes or reimbursement. MileIQ markets swipe classification and auto-generated reports. MileWiz records trips in the background, lets you swipe to business or personal, supports work hours and saved places, and exports PDF or CSV reports from a date range you choose.

We are not claiming MileWiz is more accurate, easier on battery, or better supported than MileIQ. Those are things you should judge from your own drives. What we can state from MileWiz’s own product is narrower: it is designed to be light on battery, it needs Location set to Always plus Motion & Fitness for automatic tracking, and it keeps your log on the device, with automatic backup to your own iCloud unless you turn that off.

Where MileWiz is intentionally different

Who MileWiz is not for

Trust starts with a honest “no”. MileWiz is probably the wrong fit if you need an Android app, a team admin console for many drivers, a browser dashboard, or built-in tax filing. Those are real needs — they are just not what MileWiz sells today.

A practical way to decide

  1. Write down what you pay now (or what the renewal email says).
  2. Count roughly how many work drives you take in a busy month.
  3. If you are under about 20 automatic trips a month, try MileWiz’s free plan on real drives.
  4. If you drive more than that most months, compare MileWiz Unlimited ($49.99 / year US list) with the MileIQ unlimited price on your purchase screen.
  5. Export one sample report from each app and ask whether your accountant can use it.

Keep your existing records until you are comfortable. Switching trackers mid-year is fine as long as each period has a complete log.

Bringing a MileIQ log into MileWiz

Export MileIQ’s detailed CSV, the drive log rather than only the monthly summary, and open it in MileWiz. Email the CSV to yourself and open the attachment in MileWiz, or save it in Files, iCloud Drive, Dropbox or Google Drive and open it with MileWiz. Keep the original file. Opening the same file again adds those trips a second time. Imported trips are not automatic trips, so they do not use the free plan’s 20-a-month allowance. When the file has addresses, MileWiz looks them up, which needs an internet connection. If one address cannot be found, that trip is skipped. If the phone is offline, a file that contains addresses is not imported.

When the file includes them, MileWiz keeps the date, start and end places, miles, parking, tolls, and the business, personal, or commute label. A purpose line is kept as a note. A vehicle name is added to the trip note, and the trip stays on a vehicle you already have. MileWiz does not create a new vehicle from the file, and it does not copy MileIQ’s dollar value of the miles in as an expense. MileIQ does not include the driven path, so MileWiz looks up the two addresses and draws a route between them. That lookup needs an internet connection. If one address cannot be found, that trip is skipped.

Questions people ask

How much does MileIQ cost right now?

On 3 November 2026, MileIQ’s US website listed Unlimited at $13.99 per month, or $11.66 per month billed annually. The US App Store listed in-app purchases of $13.99 and $139.99. How much does MileWiz cost?

MileWiz is a free download with up to 20 automatically tracked trips each month. On the Free Driving Plan, trips over that monthly limit are not kept unless you subscribe. Unlimited Driving is listed in the US App Store at $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year (checked 3 November 2026). Local prices can differ — see the App Store before you buy.

Does MileWiz import MileIQ data?

Yes. Export MileIQ’s detailed CSV (the drive log, not only the monthly summary) and open that file in MileWiz. Dates, start and end places, miles, parking, tolls, and the business, personal, or commute label are kept. MileIQ does not include the driven path, so MileWiz looks up the two addresses and draws a route between them. That step needs an internet connection. Keep the original MileIQ file too.

Who is MileWiz not for?

MileWiz is for individual drivers on iPhone and iPad. It is not a team admin product, it has no Android app, and it does not file your taxes for you. If you need a company dashboard or built-in tax filing, another tool may fit better.
